A wonderful new project:
Check out Thomas Peter's new undertaking, AmP News. Episode one features the one and only Archbishop Charles Chaput from Denver.
Head on over to AmP's site to check it out. (Click here)
It's awesome.
Oh, and one more thing: SPREAD THIS FAR AND WIDE TO AS MANY PEOPLE BEFORE THE ELECTION!
Ad majorem Dei gloriam.
Blessings,
Dean

The Catholic Mass for Dick and Jane
According to some bishops, us laypeople are too stupid to understand big words like ineffable and gibbet. So they have shot down a new translation of the Roman Missal saying, in the words of one bishop "John and Mary Catholic" would not be able to understand the new translation being proposed. Read Fr. Z's commentary on it.
Some of the translations are absolutely beautiful in my opinion. Look them up yourself, or open up a 1962 Missal to get a taste of the style. They are very edifying and reverent.
Gosh forbid we make someone in the pews look up a word and learn something about his faith though. That is just too much to ask...
The following is courtesy of The Curt Jester, who has obtained some pages from the actual suggestions sent from the US Bishops to the ICEL (The English Translation people):
And some suggestions for the rubrics from the GIRM:
Oh, and one more thing. The new Roman Missal was approved by the Vatican in 2002. So WHY IS IT TAKING SO DARN LONG FOR THE USCCB TO GET IT INTO THE PEWS???
Ok. I'm done now. I think I'll go to bed. Goodnight everyone and God Bless.

The Bishops speak out on embryonic stem cell research...

Go U.S. Bishops!!! (Click here for statement in PDF format)
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has issued a statement regarding embryonic stem cell research. The statement is officially affirming the fact (finally!) that using embryonic stem cells means the killing of innocent life, and that all forms of it, no matter what the conditions or funding, are immoral.
If you go to the main U.S. Bishops Spring meeting site, it says that they approved the statement 191 to 1. Now I have one question: Who in the world is that one Bishop, and why did he vote against it???
Blessings and Peace,
Dean
