Well said...

From my dear friend Lee Anne:

George Tiller was a very strange man. I am sorry he was killed - but I am NOT sorry that he can no longer act out his perverse killing rituals. I am not sorry that he can no longer injure another human being.

Over the next couple of days, weeks and months to come, we are going to hear how the pro-life people are crazy. How they kill those who abort babies. I am here to set the record straight - pro-life people do not believe in killing. The person who murdered George Tiller was not a pro-life person.
Read the rest of this excellent post here. There are also some very beautiful pictures...

Let us pray for the pro-life movement, and for the innocent lives being ended. Let us also pray for Tiller, his family, and his murderer...

Pro-abortion Dr. Tiller murdered needlessly outside of church

This is absolutely horrible news:

WICHITA, Kan. — George Tiller, a Wichita doctor who was one of the few doctors in the nation to perform late-term abortions, was shot to death on Sunday as he attended church, city officials in Wichita said.
Dr. Tiller, who had performed abortions since the 1970s, had long been a lightning rod for controversy over the issue of abortion, particularly in Kansas, where abortion opponents regularly protested outside his clinic and sometimes his home and church. In 1993, he was shot in both arms by an abortion opponent but recovered.
You can read the rest of the story here.

This story is sad from so many viewpoints.

First of all, and most importantly, a human life has been ended needlessly. Yes, this man did much to advance abortion, but this fact DOES NOT excuse his murder! Not only this, but the man was killed while attending church services!!!

This will have many repercussions I think for the pro-life community. We must all immediately and unequivocally denounce this horrible action. We seek to change this world through peaceful and just actions, not through the taking of human life. That is against our very outlook.

I have already seen comments on Facebook and articles surrounding this tragedy that concern me greatly. There are those that are cheering this event as a triumph for the Pro-Life movement. This is NOT a time to rejoice! We must pray for this man's soul, as we should for all of the departed. We must also pray for this man's family in this time of tragedy, and for the shooter, who it looks like has been apprehended.

Finally, we pray for all those who see this as some sort of victory, or are taking joy in this crime. Yes, what he did in life was a horrible thing. He supported the killing of millions. However, that does not justify the use of violence to end his actions. He is a human being, with the intrinsic God-given dignity given to us all, and his life is worth no less than anyone else's. VIOLENCE IS NOT THE ANSWER!!! Whether or not the shooter did this for activist reasons, I can guarantee you all that the media and our opponents will use this event to vilify pro-lifers.

May grace and peace be with us all.

For the old pro death argument...

...that states Catholics have changed their views over the centuries in regards to the protection of life, and where it begins:

A woman who deliberately destroys a fetus is answerable for murder. And any fine distinction between its being completely formed or unformed is not admissible among us.

--St. Basil the Great

Good ol' St. Basil was most likely born in the year A.D. 329, and passed on to his reward in A.D. 379.

Let us all pray for the saving of the most innocent in our population, the unborn children, and for the hearts of those involved with abortion to be changed to the defense of life.

An interesting fact...

Number of news stories that I was able to find regarding the March for Life in Washington DC, the largest event of its kind, in my local media sources: ZERO.

Glad to see the media staying so fair and balanced, reporting both sides of an issue...

Walk for Life West Coast 2009

You know what would be an awesome thing to do? Take a stroll out on San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf on a nice cool day, with the sun shining.

But what would be even better?

To take that walk with 25,000 of your close friends to show your support for LIFE!

The fifth annual Walk for Life West Coast is happening on 24 January 2009. Starting at 11:00 AM in Justin Herman Plaza on Market street, there will be several fabulous speakers including:

Also, if you are interested, there will be Holy Mass at St. Mary's Cathedral, 1111 Gough St., starting at 8:00 AM. In addition, there are many parishes, such as mine, that are sponsoring buses to the walk. Call your local parish office to see if they can provide you with any further information. Finally, if you need any assistance figuring out a way to get down there (such as finding a local parish), I would be willing to help research it for you, just email me at dean (at) servantfortruth (dot) com and I'll see what I can do.

Only through witnesses such as this one, and being active in the Pro-Life cause, can we make a difference in this troubled world we live in!

Ad majorem Dei gloriam!

Blessings and peace,
Dean

Surely Pelosi holds true to Catholic moral teaching, right?

Yes folks, that title is my pathetic attempt at sarcasm...

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, from right here in the Golden State of California, seems to have stuck her foot in her mouth, once again, regarding the abortion issue. Not only does she totally misrepresent Catholic teaching (remember, she professes to be a Catholic), she claims to have studied the issue in depth for some time, and yet shows total ignorance of the Right to Life issue. Here's a video from her interview with Tom Brokaw on Meet the Press:

And here is the response of ten other Catholic members of the House of Representatives to Mrs. Pelosi's comments. You will need a PDF reader for the file:

Mr. Obama gets an endorsement... In fact, the main reason not to vote for him...

According to the Cathoilc News Agency, Planned Parenthood has endoresed the preseumptive democratic candidate, Barak Obama. This is due to his "100 percent pro-abortion rating." In their own words:

"The Planned Parenthood Action Fund is proud to endorse Barack Obama for president of the United States," said Action Fund President Cecile Richards. "He is a passionate advocate for women's rights, and has a long and consistent record of standing up for women's health care.”

So by passionate advocate for women's rights, are they refering to the fact how he supports abortion mills that pressure countless women into ending the lives of their children just so they can make a few dollars, or the area of women's rights that says the only choice in pro-chioce is abortion? And in standing for women's health care, are they refering to the dangerous procedures preformed on women's bodies, the psychological and physical aftermath of abortion, or the "health care professionals" that do not fully disclose the many sideffects, other than killing a child, that abortion, and certain drugs have?

Which of these things do you support so whole-heartily Mr. Obama, that Planned Deathhood would give you such an enthusiastic endorsement?

Priest turned politician is at it again...

This priest turned politician in Quebec has once again been an embarassment to his Church... (Click here for story)

It's interesting that I should read this article just now. I just got finished reading an email from a friend in Canada commenting on the status of Christianity in his country. As each day passes, he was telling me that Canada is getting more and more hostile to Christian thinking. The young are drawn further and further away from orthodoxy and the faith.

I fear though that this is not just in Canada. We must be on our guard in these times, and be zealous in the spreading of His good news. More in example than actual words I think. With perseverance and faith in God, we can show the world what Truth is really like. We can show that Truth is Life and Love, and not Death and Disatisfaction, like the guy in the above story is spreading (whether he realizes it or not).

Jane Roe in new television commercial...

Norma McCorvey (Jane Roe in the abortion legalization case Roe v. Wade) has produced a new television commercial with Virtue Media. In it she talks about her experience and the effect her case has had on our nation. She has since become a staunch pro-life supporter and an active Catholic.

God Bless you Norma.

View the video here...

Check out other Virtue Media TV and Radio ads here. They include spots on abortion, stem cell research, pregnancy assistance, and post abortion healing.

While we are on the topic, you should check out my friend Lee Anne's Blog at LIFE Thoughts. She is a true witness to the truth of the dignity and sanctity of human life.

The Bishops speak out on embryonic stem cell research...

Go U.S. Bishops!!! (Click here for statement in PDF format)

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has issued a statement regarding embryonic stem cell research. The statement is officially affirming the fact (finally!) that using embryonic stem cells means the killing of innocent life, and that all forms of it, no matter what the conditions or funding, are immoral.

If you go to the main U.S. Bishops Spring meeting site, it says that they approved the statement 191 to 1. Now I have one question: Who in the world is that one Bishop, and why did he vote against it???

Blessings and Peace,
Dean

(Hat tip to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops)

Stem cells may be Folsom toddler's best hope (and NOT the embryonic kind!!!)

Stem Cells may Save Little Girl (Click Here - Sacramento Bee)

This little girl has a rare disease that basically keeps her layers of skin from bonding together properly. The family recently found out that their daughter could receive an experimental marrow transplant whereby the marrow stem cells could begin the healing process. On the other hand, the procedure is so risky, it may be fatal.

But what I want to draw attention to here, and what I got into a bit of a discussion earlier on with my step mom, is the use of stem cells. Let's start with a bit of an explanation first...

Stem cells are the basic building blocks of our body. We all have them. We all started out as a bunch of stem cells. When we were conceived and first started growing, we were made up of these wonderful little guys. The cool thing about them, is that they can transform into any tissue in the body. So while we start out as a few stem cells, they soon start turning into muscles, skin, nerves, lungs, livers, stomachs, eyes, brains, well, you get the idea.

When we are born, there are still many stem cells present in the blood of an umbilical cord.

When we grow up, we still have them in our bone marrow. These wonderful little building blocks of our bodies are always there. Isn't God awesome?

Now, back to the original post. :) Immediately upon reading the article, my step mom points out (knowing that I am pro-life) "SEE! Stem cell research works! You should think this through a little bit better!"

She was referring to the fact that I am dead set against embryonic stem cell research. There is an agenda out there in the pro-death camps (although not everyone is like this, some people are just misinformed) pushing embryonic stem cell research, using it as a support for abortion, I mean killing unborn babies. Some people would have you believe that embryonic stems cells are the cure all in modern human medicine. But there are two problems:

1. There have been no significant advances with embryonic stem cell research.

2. TO HARVEST EMBRYONIC STEM CELLS REQUIRES THE KILLING OF AN INNOCENT UNBORN CHILD!

But wait, there's more. I'll just type my response to my step mom that I gave her earlier...

"I know it works. Stem cells are awesome"

"Really?"

"Yeah. But you have to differentiate between embryonic, cord, and adult stem cells. There has been no definite proof with embryonic stem cells, while they are making advances with the other two kinds. I'll bet you if I read the article it wont be embryonic stem cells."

I was going out on a limb with that one, making that claim before reading the article, but I had Faith, and was praying like heck to the Holy Spirit on this one.

So I did read the article. And guess what? The type of stem cells being used are in fact marrow, which would come from an adult, not an embryo. Of course, the Sacramento Bee, being the paper that it is, did not mention the difference between the types of stem cells and how they are harvested, just that it was from bone marrow. Go figure.

I pointed that out to step mom. She was surprised, and immediately dropped the subject. Well, she actually turned it into a discussion about abortion, telling her friends at the table why she is pro-choice. And I said "you mean pro-abortion." It went down hill from there.

Me and step mom don't discuss these things too much. You can see why I think.

Please pray for this little girl and her family. St. Padre Pio, pray for them.

Dean

St. Patrick was Pro-Life...

Here is an interesting article on the issue of Hilary Clinton marching in a parade honoring St. Patrick. I find it ironic that Mrs. Clinton would use the celebration of a Catholic Saint as a campaign opportunity. A campaign that touts positions against the basic dignity of a human life...

And I love this picture from the article:

Tip of the hat to American Papist.
